Recently heard a song off this album on WZBC. I’m not well acquianted with music from India or Pakistan but I wish I was — aside from a couple of Ravi Shankar vinyls I’ve acquired over the years and a couple I’ve downloaded. It’s astounding that people over there would immediately recognize these three songs and their melodies and rhthyms. It’s so different from what we constantly hear in the west — even audiophiles. Anyway, I was so intrigued by “Raga Piloo” when I heard it on the radio that I looked the album up and found it on Amazon.com for $2.67!!! I don’t think you can beat a deal like that. Honestly, Amazon.com’s music store is excellent — far superior to the iTunes store. In December I downloaded a Beethoven compilation (totaling 1.49 GB in size) for free. All in all, if you have three dollars to spare, get this unique album. Asad Qizilbash plays the sarod and is from Pakistan. You can find more about him here.
